Each morning, I take a moment to express gratitude to those who make my life better in ways I don’t always think of. Among those people: those who make water come out of the faucets; electricity come from the outlets; provide the roads that bring our food, clothes, technology; keep us safe from dangers; etc. It occurred to me one day that most of these people participated in, and benefited from, being a part of an organized labor movement.
As I start this Labor Day 2016, I am also aware of the coincidental: war against organized labor; crumbling infrastructure; and diminishing middle class of Americans. Happy Labor Day to those who enjoy the many fruits of organized labor. May we once again find our voice and regain our strength as a people.
